This hunt takes place in the northeast parts of Wyoming in Limited Quota Area 117 in the in the beautiful Black Hills. This cow elk license in area 117 is very unusual, it allows the hunter to harvest a cow elk OR a spike bull. There is also an “unlimited cow elk” license in area 117 that means virtually one or a dozen of them can be purchased anytime during the season. A cow elk hunt in Area 117 might also be combined with a deer, antelope or turkey hunt. Before or after the hunt, many folks will spend a day or two touring the Black Hills region and visiting all the historic sights and scenery
